Designer I (Columbus)
As a Designer I, you are responsible for coordinating the design development, production, and delivery of project drawings as a member of the project design team or on your own projects. Assignments require independent action and decision making.
Responsibilities
With preliminary direction from senior staff, analyze and develop approaches to facilitate the creation and modification of architectural documents, ensuring the incorporation of design intent.
Understand and translate design intent into technical documents.
Assist the team leader in ensuring that documentation for all project phases conforms to quality assurance/quality control and Best Practice Standards.
Apply proper quality assurance/quality control protocols.
Develop strong presentations and early design studies. Assist in preparing 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and build models for client/project team review.
Assure document standards are followed, including file management processes, naming conventions, archiving, timesheet completion, etc.
Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.
With direction from senior staff, develop, modify, and/or review drawings according to established standards.
Assist in coordination of client, consultant, and contractor project information.
Assist in product and code research and incorporate codes into technical documents.
Facilitate internal and external communications.
May assist team in construction administration and document management.
May assist with site surveys/premises assessments and require the use of associated tools.
May have regular interface with clients and consultants.
May assist in work planning and scheduling processes.
May participate in setting up project team software parameters and management of standards.
May mentor and direct the work of Intern or Design Technician staff.
Required Skills
Adept in AutoCAD and Revit.
Adept in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Basic proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign software preferred.
Knowledge of architectural building systems.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in architecture or equivalent experience preferred.
0 to 3 years of experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required.
Enthusiastic team player and productive self-driven professional.
Must have great time management skills.
Must be able to function in an office environment with extended periods of computer use.
May require travel and overnight visits and must be able to climb ladders.
Overtime may be required.
